New Case Study Shows How Honeywell’s Genesis Touch™ Helps HHA’s Address Challenges and Increase Quality of Patient Care

ORLANDO — October 22, 2012 — Honeywell (NYSE: HON) HomMed, a global leader in telehealth and remote patient care, today released a new customer-based case study surrounding the success of its newest eHealth patient monitoring device – the  Genesis Touch™.

The case study, which featured Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, the largest home health agency in Maine, was distributed at the 2012 National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) convention.

As reported in the case study, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice has used Honeywell’s Genesis family of remote patient monitoring devices since 2001 as part of a successful initiative to reduce hospital readmission rates.  This past year, however, the agency observed that trends in patient telecommunications preferences had shifted – from principally utilizing a land-line phone service to more recently using only cellular service, impacting the agency’s ability to connect traditional telehealth devices via a land-line in patient environments.  To address this issue, Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice began using Honeywell’s wireless Genesis Touch for its cellular and Wi-Fi functionality.

In addition to solving the telecommunications challenge for patients, the case study reports Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice achieved success rates across other factors as well, including decreased device installation time, improved patient oversight, enhanced patient educational opportunities, and high rates of patient satisfaction.

“We recognize the immense benefits that come from using telehealth services,” said Shane Levasseur, Telehealth Coordinator for Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.  “The Genesis Touch has really allowed us to go further in expanding our telehealth offering for patients, while also providing new ways for us to care for them more effectively – now and in the future.”

Introduced in February 2012, Honeywell’s Genesis Touch was the first wireless remote patient monitoring solution on the market.  It features services and applications such as an enhanced video application, scheduled biometrics, Spanish language support and expanded mobility.

“The Genesis Touch was designed to allow Honeywell to take advantage of new applications and technologies in the healthcare marketplace,” said Mr. Bojanowski.  “The result has demostrated itself to be a personal health device that combines traditional telehealth benefits with the newest technological services, offering healthcare providers, patients and their families the best remote patient monitoring possible.”

The Genesis Touch delivers stability and enhanced security for patient users, securing patient data to meet HIPAA requirements.  A tamper-resistant interface protects the device and its information from the threat of viruses.

As with all Genesis personal health devices, the Genesis Touch is supported on the healthcare provider side by the

LifeStream Management Suite, which seamlessly integrates the patient’s device-collected information and other point-of-care applications into a single cloud-based platform, allowing patients, families and healthcare providers easy, secure access to patient information via the Internet.

The new case study is available at the Honeywell booth (#1019) throughout the duration of the NAHC convention and online at: www.scribd.com/HoneywellHomMed.
